Get the app

Get Buzz on every device

Desktop, phone or browser — it's the same Buzz and the same account. Here's how to install on each, and which to use when.

3 min read Buzz guide

Buzz runs as a desktop app (macOS & Windows), a mobile app (Android & iPhone), and straight in your browser. Everything syncs through your Ola account, so you can start on your laptop and pick up on your phone.

Desktop

macOS

Download the .dmg from the downloads section — Apple Silicon or Intel — open it, and drag Buzz to Applications.

Windows

Download the .exe installer and run it. Works on Windows 10 and 11.

The desktop app adds the things a browser tab can't: a proper dock/taskbar icon, notifications while it runs in the background (not after you quit it), and Ctrl+Space push-to-talk in huddles. It updates itself in the background.

Phone

Android

Download the .apk from the downloads section and open it to install (Android 9 and up).

iPhone & iPad

Get Ola Buzz from the App Store — tap Get it on AppStore on the welcome page, or install directly from the App Store listing.

Browser

No install needed — open buzz.ola.in/app, sign in with Ola, and you're in. Perfect for a shared machine or a quick check.

Web or desktop — which should I use?

Both are the full Buzz. Pick by how you work:

If you want…Use
Zero install, any machineBrowser — nothing to download, always latest.
Notifications when Buzz is closedDesktop app — alerts even when the window’s hidden. iPhone — direct messages reach you as push notifications even when Buzz is closed (TestFlight build 26 and later show who wrote and the start of the message).
Push-to-talk in huddlesDesktop app — hold Ctrl+Space to talk.
Buzz in your pocketMobile app — Buzz on the go. It notifies you while the app is open; notifications when it is closed are not available yet.

Most people keep the desktop or mobile app for notifications and use the browser on machines they don't own. Your account and history are identical on all three.

Reporting something that is broken

Say which build you are on, and copy it rather than typing the version you remember. Both apps show it at the bottom of Settings, and it is the same for everyone on that build — which is what makes it useful to whoever picks up your report.

Where you areWhat to copy
Desktop appThe line at the foot of the Settings sidebar: Build 0.5.41+3f9bb44
Mobile appThe line at the foot of Settings: Version 1.0.2 (19)
BrowserThere is no build line — say “browser” and roughly when you last reloaded.

The desktop line is not just the version number — the part after the + identifies the exact build. Two people on “0.5.41” can be on different builds; two people quoting the same Build line cannot.
