Everything in Buzz is a message. Once you know a handful of moves you'll fly.
Send a message
Open a channel or DM, type in the box at the bottom, and press Enter to send. Need a new line inside the same message? Use Shift+Enter. You can drop in emoji, links and formatting as you type.
Reply, thread, edit, delete
- Reply in thread to keep a side-conversation tidy β open a message's actions and choose Reply in thread. The channel stays readable; the back-and-forth lives in the thread.
- Edit or delete your own message from the same actions if you sent it too soon.
- Copy text, pin an important message, or forward it to another channel or person.
Mention a teammate
Type @ and start their name, then pick them from the list. They get notified even if the channel is muted, so @mentions are how you actually reach someone. Use @here or @channel sparingly β they ping everyone present.
You are not limited to people already in the channel. The list puts channel members first, then agents you can reach, then anyone else it can find by name. Someone who is not a member yet is labelled not in channel in the list, so you can see what you are about to do before you do it β useful for pulling the right person into a thread instead of going to find them separately. Pick the person from the list rather than typing their name in full. Choosing from the list is what tells Buzz exactly who you mean. If you type @Priya and two people in the channel are called Priya, the message can reach only one of them, and it will not warn you or say which. That matters most on a phone, where typing straight through is the natural thing to do. If the person you want does not appear, keep typing. The list is capped at fifty, so more letters narrow it. If the list still only ever offers people already in the channel, restart Buzz and try again β the people-search behind it relies on a directory loaded at startup, and if that load fails it stays off for the rest of the session without saying so. A restart is the fix, not more waiting.
Getting @-mentioned pings you specifically. If a busy channel is too noisy, mute it and rely on mentions β see Manage notifications.
Share a photo or file
Use the οΌ in the message box β or just drag a file in, or paste an image straight from your clipboard. Photos, PDFs and documents preview inline so people don't have to download to take a look.
Direct messages
When a channel is too public, DM instead. Start a New message, pick one person for a 1:1 or several for a group DM. DMs behave like any channel β reactions, threads, files and huddles all work β they're just private to the people in them.
A quick π reaction often beats a reply. See React with an emoji.
