Huddles

Start & join a huddle

Drop-in audio rooms for when typing is too slow. Hop in, talk it out, hop off — no meeting invite, no link to send.

Huddles are not switched on yet. The relay does not advertise huddle support, so starting or joining one will not connect today. This page describes how huddles work once they are enabled — nothing here is wrong, it is early.

A huddle is live voice inside a channel or DM. Instead of scheduling a call, you start talking and anyone in the channel can join with one tap.

Start or join one

Start a huddle

In a channel or DM, start a huddle. A live bar appears at the top of the channel so everyone can see it's on and hop in.

Join in one tap

See a huddle running? Tap it to join. No dial-in, no link — you're in the room.

Talk, then leave

Speak, mute yourself when you're not talking, and leave when you're done. The huddle ends when the last person leaves.

Push-to-talk on desktop

On the desktop app you can stay muted and hold Ctrl+Space to talk — release to go quiet again. Buzz only reserves that key while you're actually in a huddle, so it never gets in your way otherwise. Prefer open mic? Leave push-to-talk off and just unmute.

Join from your browser

No app needed — huddles now work right in your browser. Open Buzz on the web, go to a channel with a live huddle, and join. You can listen and talk, see who's speaking, drop a reaction, and choose your microphone, speaker, and volume.

Open Buzz on the web

Go to buzz.ola.in and open Buzz in your browser — sign in with your Ola account. Nothing to install.

Join and allow your mic

In a channel with a live huddle, tap Join and allow microphone access. You'll see everyone in the room and who's talking, live.

Talk, react, leave

Unmute to talk, mute when you're not, send a quick reaction, and leave when you're done — just like the app.

Works in Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox. Chrome and Edge are the smoothest; Safari 17.4+ and Firefox can talk too; older browsers can still listen in. Tip: use headphones so your microphone doesn't echo the room.

Huddles are great for a two-minute “can we just talk this out?” Keep the channel for the decision, use the huddle for the discussion.

A huddle you start is visible to people in that channel or DM — it's a drop-in room, not a private call. For a private conversation, start the huddle inside a DM.
